Gerard Rodriques is the Managing Director of Expo AV Pte Ltd, a leading provider of audio, video, and lighting solutions in Singapore. Since its inception in 2006, Expo AV has been a trusted name in delivering seamless technical production for corporate events and conferences.

1. Expo AV has come a long way since its inception in 2006, with 19 years in the making. Can you share your journey in the creation of the business?


We started as a 200 sq ft company dealing with TVs and small-form projectors. Through determination and hard work, we secured long-term clients, many of whom are still with us today. We’ve weathered tough periods like SARS, the Asian Financial Crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic, but these challenges have made us stronger and better prepared.


2. We can see that Expo AV has transformed itself from an audio & visual system company into a more holistic provider in the industry. Can you share more about this change?


Initially, we were solely a video company. Over time, we’ve grown into a full-scale production company, expanding into content production and event technology. This transformation allows us to offer our clients a complete ecosystem of event solutions. It was driven by listening to our clients’ needs and studying the industry to understand the requirements.


3. Your team is your greatest asset. Having been with you through thick and thin, can you share your management style and beliefs for a successfully managed company?


I believe in the power of people. A ‘boss’ is merely the captain of the ship, but it’s the people onboard who drive day-to-day operations. We never faltered, even during the pandemic. Instead, we strategised and prepared for when it ended. To date, I have employees who have been with the company for up to 19 years.


4. With so many players in the AV industry, how do you stay competitive and win market share?


Never take things for granted, especially during good times, and always stay alert. Listening to clients and their needs is key. Then, we execute events that leave a lasting impression. Digital marketing and media are also crucial drivers. A strong marketing department ensures we showcase the great work we do and stay visible to potential clients.


5. In 2026, Expo AV will celebrate its 20th anniversary. What are your plans and vision for taking the company to the next level?


We aim to grow new business verticals, including IP events, and expand our operations internationally. We will continue nurturing our business with our current clientele while focusing on enhancing our technology and skill sets.


6. Lastly, can you share your targeted growth for the next 24 months?


We’re targeting a 20-25% year-on-year increase in topline revenue.
